As a bold new entrant to the English wine scene, founded by Jackson Family Wines, Marbury needed a name that would capture and celebrate its coastal English location, along with a premium brand identity, label design, photography and website that would enable the winery to launch with confidence and impact. With vineyards situated above the River Crouch estuary and surrounding marshlands – where the river meets the North Sea – Marbury wines thrive in a distinctive coastal climate, considered one of the finest in England for grape cultivation.

While growing premium grapes in the clay soils of the Crouch Valley is notoriously challenging, Marbury’s expertise and unrivalled craftsmanship have embraced the difficult terroir, producing vines and fruit of exceptional flavour. This deep connection to the land informed every part of the brand design and naming, with “Marbury” deriving from Latin – ‘bury’ meaning ‘stronghold’ or ‘fort’, and ‘Mar’ meaning ‘sea’.
