Aftercare guide for websites

Congratulations on the launch of your new website!
Your site is now live and ready to support your business goals. This document outlines key information for managing your website, maintaining its security, and keeping it performing at its best.

CMS handover & access

Your website has been built using WordPress.
You now have full administrative access.

Your login details will have been provided, including a website URL, an admin login URL, a username and a temporary password.

Important: Please change your password upon first login and store it securely. Avoid sharing your admin credentials unnecessarily.

Understanding your CMS

We’ve provided an overview or video guide to help you get comfortable with your CMS:

  1. Updating text and images
  2. Adding new pages, menu items or blog posts
  3. Managing forms and submissions
  4. Managing transactions (if applicable)

If you’d like additional CMS training for further members of the team or a refresher, we offer a 1-hour walkthrough session at an hourly rate to guide you or your team through content updates and best practices.

Cybersecurity awareness

Keeping your website secure protects both your business and your visitors.
Here are key points to remember:

  1. Passwords: Use strong, unique passwords and change them regularly.
  2. User access: Only give admin access to trusted personnel. Create Editor or Author accounts for content contributors instead.
  3. Updates: Your CMS, plugins, and themes should be kept up-to-date to prevent security vulnerabilities, but likely your theme is bespoke and so this might not be out-of-the-box and may need some additional support or code.
  4. Backups: Ensure backups are taken regularly and stored off-site if Deep is not managing for you.
  5. Only install trusted plug-ins or snippets, and if at all concerned, allow Deep to do this for you.
  6. Phishing & scams: Be cautious of emails asking for login details or claiming urgent website issues. Always verify the sender or contact us directly.

We recommend a website maintenance plan to handle updates, backups, and monitoring on your behalf (see later section).

Website performance & SEO tips

To maintain optimal performance:

  1. Keep image sizes small (under 500KB where possible).
  2. Avoid installing unnecessary plugins or widgets.
  3. Regularly review your analytics (e.g., Google Analytics / Search Console).
  4. Maintain consistent, high-quality content to improve SEO rankings.

If you’d like ongoing SEO or content support, we can provide tailored monthly packages.

You are free to make content changes using your CMS dashboard.
However, for design changes, new features, or structural edits, we recommend consulting us first — this ensures updates align with your website’s framework and don’t affect performance.
